HOW TO CARE

Gentle care, enduring wear.

WASHING

Our garments are made from premium natural fibres such as organic cotton, cotton, linen, and viscose, chosen for their breathability, softness, and lasting quality. These fabrics not only offer enduring comfort but also become even softer and more supple with careful laundering, developing a lived-in ease without compromising strength.

To keep them at their best, we recommend gentle care: wash only when necessary, using cold water and a mild, eco-conscious detergent to preserve their structure and reduce environmental impact. Turn pieces inside out before washing to protect their colour and finish, and opt for low spin cycles or hand washing to help maintain their shape. Line dry in the shade rather than tumble drying, and lightly press with a warm iron if needed. With thoughtful care, these fibres will retain their natural beauty and longevity for years to come.

SPOT CLEANING

To gently spot clean a garment, start by blotting the mark with a clean, damp cloth — always choosing a light, neutral colour to avoid any transfer. Work carefully, dabbing rather than rubbing to lift the blemish without pushing it deeper into the fibres. For stubborn spots, mix a little mild, eco-conscious detergent with cool water and lightly apply with a soft cloth, then rinse the area with fresh water to remove any residue. If the mark is larger, immerse just the affected section in cold water and gently ease it out with a cloth, taking care not to twist or wring the fabric. Allow the garment to air dry away from direct sunlight to preserve its colour and texture.

DRYING

The best way to dry your garments is to let them air naturally, either on a clothesline or a hanger, keeping them out of direct sunlight to prevent fading. Smooth and gently reshape the garment while damp to help it retain its form and avoid stiffness. Avoid tumble dryers whenever possible, as high heat can shrink or weaken the fibres and uses unnecessary energy. If you must use a dryer, follow the care label carefully, but for most pieces, air drying is the gentlest and most sustainable option to maintain their softness, shape, and colour.

IRONING

Always check the care instructions on your garment before ironing, as they will indicate the appropriate temperature for the fabric. Cotton and linen work best when slightly damp, so consider lightly misting the garment with water before ironing. Iron on the inside wherever possible to protect colour and prevent shine, and use a medium to high heat setting with steam to gently relax the fibres. Move the iron along the weave of the fabric rather than pressing back and forth aggressively, and hang the garment immediately after ironing to set its shape and maintain its crisp, polished finish.

STEAMING & AIRING

To refresh garments, hang them in a well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight. The fresh air will help to remove odours and allow the fibres to relax naturally. Turn garments inside out to protect colours and preserve the fabric’s natural texture. Steaming is another gentle and effective way to refresh these fibres—hang the garment on a sturdy hanger and use a handheld steamer, keeping it slightly away from the fabric to avoid water spots. Smooth the fabric lightly with your hands while steaming to help release wrinkles and restore the garment’s natural drape.

DRYCLEANING

Most garments can be gently washed at home, but some tailored or delicate pieces are best cared for through dry cleaning. Before taking a garment to the cleaners, check whether blemishes can be spot cleaned, or refresh it by airing or steaming to remove odours and wrinkles. Always refer to the care label so your cleaner can process the garment correctly. For pieces with removable trims, buttons, or belts, we recommend removing these beforehand to prevent them from being lost or damaged during cleaning.

STORING

Storing your cotton and linen garments correctly is key to maintaining their quality and longevity. Lightweight tops, tees, and casual pieces are best folded to preserve their shape and avoid stretching, while tailored shirts, blouses, dresses, and trousers can be hung on padded or shaped hangers to maintain their structure. Always ensure garments are clean and completely dry before storing, and keep them in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated space out of direct sunlight to prevent fading. For long-term storage, consider using breathable garment bags or boxes, and leave enough space between items to reduce creasing. Natural deterrents like cedar blocks or lavender sachets can also help protect your wardrobe from moths while keeping it fresh.

ALTERATIONS & REPAIRS

Your local drycleaner or alterations specialist can be a valuable resource for repairing and adjusting garments. Whether it’s reinforcing seams, replacing buttons, or resizing a piece for a better fit, a skilled professional can help maintain the shape and longevity of your favourite items. Always discuss the repair or alteration needed, and they will guide you on the best approach to ensure your garment continues to look and feel its best.

DONATE

When a garment has served its time in your wardrobe, consider passing it on to extend its story and support a circular approach to fashion. Donating your pieces to trusted charities or community programs ensures they are cherished by someone else, reducing waste while creating a positive impact. Before contributing, take a moment to clean and fold each item carefully, preserving its quality and allowing it to be worn and loved again.
